CARE FOR EACH OTHER. PLAN TOGETHER.
Family continuity and succession preparation for retirement in Malaysia
For the life you share.A plan neither carries alone.
Perhaps one of you handles every call and document. If that person could not act, where would the other begin? While looking forward to life abroad, plan family contacts and decision responsibilities together, while you can both take part.
Discuss family continuity and adviser coordinationJapanese-language inquiries welcome from the planning stage.
A LIFE THAT FEELS LIKE YOU
Prepare so there is more room to enjoy the life ahead.
Wanting to spare family worry can make practical conversations easy to postpone. Begin with what exists, where it is and whom to contact. Separate ownership, daily payments, decisions and professional advice so responsibilities do not depend on one person alone.
PEOPLE. DECISIONS. CONTINUITY.
Distinguish being able to contact someone from authority to act.
A contact map either partner can use
List healthcare, insurer assistance, building management, existing advisers and family contacts with hours. Keep public emergency channels distinct from everyday contacts, and agree who informs family first.
Payments and contracts that keep daily life running
List rent, utilities, insurance renewals, housing and residency deadlines, with a fallback contact. Do not treat account sharing or password handover as a solution; formally check required authority and bank procedures.
Family wishes and formal authority
Discuss whom you want informed and involved. A contact, decision maker, owner and beneficiary may be different people. Authorised legal, tax and other specialists must review the effectiveness of authority and succession arrangements for the relevant assets and countries.
YOUR WISHES. A CLEARER NEXT STEP.
Make the difficult conversation part of caring for family.
Begin with responsibilities held by one partner, what family should know and your advisers’ fields. Discuss specialists, an individual process, costs and timing within Bona’s published relocation, Private Office and trust or foundation scope. This is not a promise of emergency support or individual legal or tax decisions.
Discuss family continuity and adviser coordinationBONA TRUST CORPORATION
A local point of contact for plans made from afar.
Bona Trust publishes contacts in Labuan and Kuala Lumpur and consultation routes for relocation, residency and Private Office matters. Confirm your named contact and engagement scope before proceeding.
Meet the team and company ↗Clinical, insurance, tax and immigration decisions remain with the relevant providers, advisers and authorities.
YOUR QUESTIONS, IN EVERYDAY TERMS
From a question to a next step.
Help the other partner find the next step when one is unwell
Assign the first call, routine payments and family updates separately. With consent, share where the contact plan is kept and read it together to see whether the less involved partner can use it. Discuss coordination scope with Bona without assuming emergency response, clinical decisions, round-the-clock cover or authority to act.
Leave family a route through the responsibilities too
Map asset types, contracts, current administrators and contacts by country, separating contact duties from decision authority. No balances or statements belong in the public form. Start with family wishes and assets before selecting a trust, foundation or another method; review professional advice, Bona’s published administration and coordination scope, fees and ongoing obligations.
QUESTIONS BEFORE YOUR FIRST STEP
Questions before your next step.
Can a family member act automatically?
Family status alone may not confer authority over contracts, accounts or medical decisions. Check the procedure, country, consent and documents with the relevant institution and professional. Keep contact duties separate from formal authority.
Will Bona respond to a medical emergency?
Do not assume emergency response or 24-hour assistance. In an emergency use the appropriate local emergency channel or medical provider. Confirm any routine communication or adviser-coordination scope, hours and fees before contracting.
Will a trust or foundation solve every family issue?
Neither suits every situation. Review objectives, assets, countries, decision makers, beneficiaries and ongoing costs with existing advisers and authorised specialists. Compare alternatives and ongoing duties before deciding to establish one.
Do I need to disclose assets or medical history initially?
Purpose, countries and timing are enough initially. Do not send asset statements, account numbers, medical history or family identity documents through the public form. If needed later, agree consent, recipients and a secure channel.
